Walk For Sight Charity Walk 2009

This is a Lions SightFirst Project in conjunction with Lions 50 years of community services in Malaysia. Jointly organised by Lions Clubs, Leo Clubs and St.Nicholas' Home, Penang in partnership with Penang Sports Club. The purpose is to raise awareness of importance of eyes and donation.

It was a Sunday morning, and we wake at 7 am. Earlier than the time we wake up during working days. We need to gathered at Padang Polo at 8 am for some speech, aerobic and registration. The walk started at around 8 something.

The weather is pretty good...not hazey, no rain and not much sun...which is very ideal for a morning walk. The walk is about 2.3 km. We need to be in a pair, two of us are suppose to take turn blindfolded and the one with no blindfolded are suppose to navigate. We walk pretty slow as not used to it and too many people. We need to trust each other very much. The little baby girl also joined us for the walk. (She joined us before for the Relay for Life project)

The walk started from Jalan Sepoy Line, headed to Jalan Macalister, then Jalan Residential and then lastly went back to Jalan Sepoy Line. If it was not because of this event, we wouldn't walk in these few roads as there are too many cars. So, this was an memorable experience to evenyone of us besides being blindfolded.

After the walk, there was a lucky draw session. I didn't wait until the last minutes so I passed my lucky draw number to my friends. My friend called me up and informed me that my number has won a 1 night's stay with breakfast for 2 at Bayview Hotel....the only winner in our group. Hm...I need to find a partner soon. :P

Overall, I had fun and this would be an unforgetable experience for me.

人因夢想而偉大

I watched a taiwanese entertainment show today and felt so touched with one of the story.

This story is about a group of old men and woman travelled around Taiwan Island with motorcycle. The oldest among them is 89 years old and the youngest one is 72 years old. Before the trip start, they are required to undergo some training to ensure that they are fit enough for this challenge. This is certainly not easy....and they have done with strong determination and dream.

I remember one of the touching story. An old man told the reporter that the reason that keep him join the trip is his promise towards his wife. He always travelled with motorcycle with his wife while they were young and he promise his wife that he will bring her to travel around Taiwan with motorcycle one day. However, before he fulfill his promise, his wife passed away due to sickness. He told the reporter that he will still fulfill his promise even though his wife is no longer with him because that was his promise towards her.

I learned:
1) It is very important to have dream(s) and make sure you fulfill them
2) Age is never a hurdle to anything
3) Do whatever you think it is appropriate before it is too late
4) Treasure every person and every moment in your life

Short Trip to Hatyai

I went to Hatyai with my friends, friend's mother and auntie on 13th Jun 09. Although I am from Alor Star, which is very near to Hatyai, but I seldom go there. The first time I've been there was almost 20 years ago.

We engaged a tour guide for this trip which cost us RM 185 per person. This includes transportation, hotel (1 night) and food. If you do not plan to buy things from Hatyai, then this RM 185 is nett. I spend another RM 50 to buy some snack and tuk tuk charges. So, the trip only cost me for RM 235.

I notice something there. We hardly can find people with spec there, maybe only 1 out of 20 people there are with spec. Whereas in Malaysia, I think almost 8 out of 10 people are with spec. The possibilities might be they didn't watch TV and expose to computer as much as we do therefore their eye sight is better than us, or they are too poor to afford a TV or a computer, or they don't even afford to have a spec....perhaps they take well care of their eyes.

Lastly, this trip is a good break for me to be away from the hectic working life.

Siow Wei and Aaren wedding dinner

This was the most excited and memorable wedding dinner that I have ever attended.
Siow Wei is my colleague and she is a very sporting girl. I'm sure she will have a special arrangement for her big day and I was very looking forward to witness this special day.
The night start with a cocktail style dinner which everyone were served with a cocktail and you can walk around to see the environment. You may chit chat with each other also. The wedding dinner start at around 8.
The wonderful moment start when Siow Wei and Aaren sing a song each. They sing very well, is like they were having a concert. Well done guys. Then Siow Wei and 2 close sisters sing a song for us. It's an awesome performance. There was a place near the stage whereby people can dance there. And when they were singing, there were lots of people danced there includes the cute little ones. :) This little girl in the photos clap hand and dance to support the 3 aunties. She managed to make new friends also. Because of their outstaning performance, the 3 ladies were requested to sing another song.
This was a wonderful night for everyone. Congratulation, Siow Wei and Aaren and thanks for inviting me to witness the happiness.

Youth Park Coffee

I tried quite a number of coffee; starbuck, coffee bean, old town, 3 in 1.....but if you were to ask which is my favourite, my answer is the Youth Park Coffee.

It is a very conventional type of coffee, no creamer, no brown sugar...just the conventional coffee powder and the sugar. It is best serve hot...and after some hiking. :) Imagine a cup of coffee in front of you after a 30 to 40 minutes exercise, the feeling is just unable to describe in words. Take a sip first, your energy can be recharge back immediately and you will feel refresh. Drink slowly feel the environment and have some chatting with friends. Wow, heaven.

No doubt, the coffee is one of the motivational factors that keep people hike; besides health maintenance.

世界名曲-三輪車

I think everyone is familiar with this song, it is a world song. I think most of us will wonder why the old lady will gave 1 dollar instead of 50 cents.

I was also wondering until I receive an email forwarded by my friend. There is a story behind

Not sure how true is this....but I felt it is quite humour. Just thought of share with my friends. :)
